Batwoman costume made for Liana K. from
Ed and Red’s Night Party.

All aspects of the costume creation were
documented and filmed for a special episode
of their program.

The bodysuit is cast in silicone and featured
2 different Red chest logo’s. The first suit
featured an electro statically flocked red
chest logo, while the second boasted a high
gloss deep red ‘slick’ finish.

The belt is also silicone as are the boot bats.

The cowl is a semi rigid urethane resin and
cast around her head cast for a good
comfortable glove fit.

Below you can see some of the images
from the various stages of the life casting to
the different sculptures, and the finished
costume on Liana K.
To the left you can see Liana with the back half of her head
already molded. The head cast was done in Alga-Safe from
Smooth-On. Typically, a full head mold in alginate is done as a
one piece mold, but for filming purposes and to allow for dialogue
for as long as possible, we did it as a 2 piece mold.
This Batwoman costume is based on the artwork
by Alex Ross.
Our job was to turn it into a wearable 3D form and
cast as a rubber suit. Liana asked that we give it
an H.R Giger feel to it yet combined with the world
of fetish. The idea was to keep it sexy and as
comfortable as possible.

Once the head cast was cleaned up, we started
the cowl sculpture.
Hopefully we can get some more behind the
scenes photos from the body life casting as it
really was a lot of fun. The
image below is the only one we have for now.
Full body armor was sculpted onto her life cast.

Chavant NSP soft oil clay was used for all
sculpted elements of this costume.
Once the molds were
complete the costume was
cast up in silicone. This
allowed for optimum
movement by Liana. To
further draw attention to the
costume we electro statically
flocked the red bat logo
and shaded it slightly to make it
stand out.

The elements we fabricated
for this costume are the
following: Cape, leather forearm
gauntlets, fins, belt, rubber
body suit, cowl and boot bats.
